Holiday Hate the Sound Guy.

Home home home.

It’s a strange feeling returning home from a tour. Everything was put on pause for a few weeks it seems, then I just hit “play” once I get home. The same thing goes for all my stuff that’s sitting in storage, except that was over two and a half years ago! That’s a long time for things to sit on pause.

My general feeling on the tour was “pretty good.” All the venues treated us well, the promoters were cool (save one, heh), and the turnouts were fairly well too. It’s kindof obvious that we’ve reached the end-of-life for We Couldn’t Think of a Title. It’s a bit sad too – I had envisioned a few more singles getting pushed before we moved on, but that didn’t happen for some reason. Two Ton kinda got pushed, and a few others are still being played on XM so I can’t complain. I really thing terrestrial radio would’ve dug Two Ton Paperweight and maybe something else. Jagermeister Love Song? Who knows.

Now that we’re back home finishing the new record, I can’t help but wonder what’s in store. The songs on Sandwich show tons of progression musically and are far more catchy than before. There aren’t any novelty “BEER!” type songs this time around. I’m grateful for the doors that “BEER” has opened for us, but a huge challenge we face is that the “BEER” song is more popular than the very band who wrote the song. I think if every person who heard and liked “BEER” would have picked up an album they’d be way more into Psychostick. “BEER” was just a goofy jingle type deal we wrote to point out how dumb drunk people really get. Strange how things turned out, huh?

I’m very excited for Sandwich because the songs are more “sticky” and push the entire band rather than just one song (“BEER” was accidentally picked up by XM Radio). This usually helps the longevity of a band’s lifespan rather than having a “one hit wonder.” Although “BEER” is far from being a hit (hit songs tend to skyrocket an artist into platinum – we hit 40,000 records), I believe we’ll truly dodge that one hit wonder “curse”. I can’t really put that into words – it’ll make sense once the new songs are heard. Rawr.

I’ve probably knocked out a good 40% of the artwork for Sandwich today. And it’s due on Saturday. Eehh. I know I can get the ART done, but we’re still recording a few things so I don’t know if we’re cutting or renaming songs yet. Putting the liner notes in will definitely have to be a last minute thing since I still won’t be done recording by the time Saturday comes around. I’m close but not quite there (I’ve got like 5 more songs or so). Grawrrgh. After all this is done and turned into the label I’m going to sleep for a day or two… nonstop. HAR HAR!

Tons of stuff to do after that too… like website redesigns and all that. Plus I’ll be working part time with clients and their websites. MUST SAVE MONEY. Oh, and buy a PS3, 360, and Wii. For some reason I must.

I don’t even know if I’ll get to those hugelarge projects I wanted to tackle. Blarg!

I go. Gonna type a private one then sleep a bit. God of War: Chains of Olympus is badass.
