Catching up with your FACE

Finally, I have time to send in an update. Anthony jumped back on tour with us yesterday and I spent most of my time catching up on sleep. I’ve also been fighting allergies since – well – since the tour pretty much started. Claritin wasn’t strong enough, so I went to Zyrtec. Thanks to my lady for the suggestion!

Steak

Steak! Steak is good. Well, this was alright. Applebees is alright.

After Covington was Richmond, VA. The tour split up at this point for whatever reason and we ended up playing a small venue somewhere near downtown Richmond. Our promoter friend Eric, in Diabase, supplied us with good hospitatlity and some shirts from his band. Heh, the turnout was lackluster depsite the higher presales which was odd. Sound was alright and the crowd definitely enjoyed our dumbness.

Once the show was up we decided to head all the way over to Philly to stay with Puffy, Anthony’s friend, from Da Rezarekt. (I think that’s how you spell the name). On the way there Anthony started feeling a weird numbness in his arms and legs, so we swung by an ER to make sure he was alright. Turns out he was; they ran an EKG and made sure he wasn’t on the verge of a heart attack or anything. He’s fine now; the general unprofessional diagnosis was that he had a mild panic attack. Not sure.

He opted to hop off the tour for four shows. At this point tour management is handed down to yours truly, so I instantly became Tour Manager for Psychostick and Green Jelly. Eek. The first show of my newfounded responsibility took us on the boat show which ended up being in New York City itself. Navigating a van and trailer in this area is rather, uh, stressful. We ended up finding the area which I had to somehow back into an area that almost blocked a parking garage and a gas station – and holy balls – we then had to move our gear and merch into the boat. Sounds easy, but it was quite the trek on the dock and into the boat.

I was entirely stressed out, but once they helped us get the van parked and our gear/merch was set up, I was able to relax a bit and enjoy the awesome boat ride. Once the sun was set the view of the city from New York Harbor was absolutely breathtaking and is officially burned into my memory forever. During Green Jelly’s set, we circled around the Statue of Liberty a few times. THAT was awesome.

Statue of Liberty

A very crappy picture of what was an awesome sight.

New York City

Again, a crappy picture of something badass.

The show itself was surprisingly really, REALLY good. I didn’t think a show on a boat was gonna, you know, NOT suck. It didn’t suck. It was great; everyone enjoyed it and laughed at all of our dorky jokes and what-not. Once again we rocked it and the boat quite rocked us (literally). Heh, get it? JOKE? FUNNY.

Apparently there was a large amount of industry folk at this show. I’m glad they got to see us play here; made us look real good.

Once we loaded out we stayed with Matt’s parents on Long Island. Such nice people. Ate Chinese food. Yarm.

The next show was Mill Street Brews in Southbridge, MA. WEIRD show. The venue was big and had a decent setup. The rain made for a challenging load in. I had to quickly set things up because they opened doors way earlier than I thought.

One of the opening bands had a badass lead guitarist that was handicapped and rocked it. I totally forget their name though; I’m a jerk.

Awesome guitarist little guy. Super nice too.

Show went well and we had a good response. Can’t remember much though. Heh.

Had a long drive to Rochester, NY the next day. This show turned out to be really, REALLY good. The bar we played at was almost completely packed out and the local openers were all really good bands. Sold a lot of shirts and CDs that night and the bar wants us back for sure. Definitely going back there. The next morning I had to get an oil change on the van; driving 5000 miles in a couple weeks takes it’s toll, just in case you were wondering.

The next night we played the El N Gee club in New London, CT. Decent club, bad turnout. The crowd was really into the show though. Nice people at this club too; they wanted

Is it me or do I forget little details? Heh.

Next night: Bourbon Street in Baltimore. Nice venue, bad turnout again. I spent most of this night sleeping and moving gear. The show was super early so people didn’t get to file in on time to really get to see us. Boo.

Sorry I rushed this; got a few things I gotta do. Rawr har har!

Here’s their site. It’s a pretty big boat! Had like 150 people on it I think.
